will be talking about a recent publication produced by the Friends of
Sausal Creek called "The House and Garden Audit: Protecting Your
Family’s Health and Improving the Environment." The book is
a great overview of actions that individuals can take in the house and
garden to help keep themselves and our creeks and watersheds
healthy. It has lots of photos, lots of tables that provide a
great reference, and lots of web sites and other sources for people who

August 9, September 13, October 11 (Saturday) What: Stewardship & Restoration Workday When: 9:30am - 12:00pm Where: El Sobrante Library. 4191 Appian Way, El Sobrante, CA 94803 As we approach the final year of our Creek side revegetation project behind the El Sobrante Library we need your help more than ever. Stop by on the second Saturday of the month and help us re-leaf San Pablo Creek. We will be planting over 500 plants this fall and need your help to re-vegetate the grounds by the creek. These workdays are a great opportunity to learn about native plants, gardening tips, and to meet your neighbors. Our workdays are not only educational, but also serve to protect the native habitat for local wildlife. Please

When: August 21, 7:00pm-8:30pm -- Training for new volunteers August 23, Survey location will be announced at the training RSVP to save a spot for our annual expedition into the creeks. Take the opportunity to wade San Pablo creek while collecting relevant information for the Watershed Atlas. No GPS knowledge required, but willingness to get a little wet and dirty is expected. Waders and snacks provided. This program is supported by the Contra Costa County Volunteer Monitoring Program. For last minute updates on the location of the survey visit www.cocowaterweb.org We will sample a stretch of San Pablo creek below I-80. Training is mandatory for volunteers new to GPS. 10 volunteers required to have a full team.
